| Ultrasound Accreditation |
Professional Medical Ultrasonics has met all the requirements for accreditation by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. To become accredited, a practice must provide evidence of proper policies and procedures, as well as evidence that its ultrasound equipment is functioning properly and safely. The practice must submit actual cases to ensure that the images and interpretation of the studies meet or exceed nationally excepted standards.
By using an accredited practice for your ultrasound referrals, you have the assurance of sonographers who are committed to lifelong learning through ongoing continuing medical education, safety, accuracy and professionalism. |

| R2 Computer Aided Detection System (CAD) |
The R2 Image Checker System is a computer aided detection (CAD) system that digitizes a mammogram and analyzes it using a proprietary signal processing software, which highlights areas on the mammogram which contain features associated with cancer. The Image Checker System is like a "Spell Checker" for medical images. It is designed to assist radiologists in reducing the number of false negative readings.
The Image Checker System is the first FDA approved computer-aided detection system for screening and full-view diagnostic mammograms. According to the FDA, use of the Image Checker System could result in earlier detection of up to 23.4% of the cancers currently detected with screening mammography in those women who had a prior screening mammogram 9-24 months earlier. |
